Since, on the one hand, the launch of Stargate, Donald Trump's $500 billion project to promote artificial intelligence (AI), and, on the other, the emergence of China's DeepSeek AI, which aims to be more frugal, hopes have been raised that it is still possible to reshuffle the cards on the global chessboard, Anne Bouverot, special correspondent for the Paris AI Summit and President of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, believes that " there is a growing awareness, including among the general public" of the need for Europe to be digitally independent. The fact remains that the business world continues to give in to the siren calls of big tech, as shown recently by the case of Polytechnique and the French Ministry of Education, which have signed contracts with Microsoft to host their data. Between the desire for digital independence and the reality of it, there's definitely still a gap ....
